Spring Classics

The past few weeks I’ve plunged head first into the bizarre (to me) world of riding bikes on the road, reporting for VeloNews on the spring classics. The month or so of work I’ve done has been a major education in a sport that is simultaneously very similar and very, very different from my usual cyclocross beat.

Here’s the growing portfolio of my work on the road:

Ronde Van Vlaanderen
Sky falling: Stage-racing squad comes up empty once more in cobbled classic

Omega Pharma-Quick Step threw everything at Roubaix, and it nearly worked

Brabantse Pijl
Sagan low key after overcoming imperfect day at Brabantse Pijl

Amstel Gold Race
Philippe Gilbert comes up empty at Amstel, looks for redemption at Liege
Garmin-Sharp hopes to salvage disappointing classics season this week

Van Lancker, others detail Garmin’s tactical Li├Ęge siege
